Why sampoorna yoga?

Most people start with yoga because of health problems such as back pain, headache, high blood pressure, stress, burn-out, depression, … or because they yearn for a calmer, more balanced and happier life.  Almost everybody feels the healing, relaxing and energizing effects of yoga already after a few classes.

But this is only the top of the iceberg. Yoga is an ancient science designed to reach nothing less than the highest goal of life: to realize that all the joy we are running after is already present within us.

So in short: we believe that health is the greatest wealth, and happiness comes from peace of mind.
We believe that – with the right guidance – everyone can take charge of their own health and happiness and make significant improvements, whatever their starting point.

How does Sampoorna Yoga work?

A typical yoga class traditionally starts with some invocation to remind the practitioner that hatha yoga does not just address the physical body. It is a spiritual discipline. This creates an athmosphere of powerful calmness in body and mind.

Anuloma VilomaBreathing exercises are done at the beginning to wake up the energy and make it flow smoothly. They remove tiredness and energetical blockages, establish a healthy breathing pattern, energize and clean the breathing organs and the entire system and balance the activating and the calming component of the nerval system. The mind becomes calm, steady and awake.

The practice of asanas is based on different perfectly balanced series. However it is not limited to those series, as variations are infinite. This encourages the practitioner to explore the whole scope of the practice of asanas.

Like that it gives a complete workout of the body, done with total respect for the physical limitations, without being obsessed by them. The focus is more on what can be done rather than on one’s limits. The practice then becomes a joyful, playful challenge that keeps the mind in a positive state.

A guided final relaxation completes the class. In this part of the yoga session the student integrates all the work and all the experiences he or she made during the class and is able to let go of the body and relax completely. You dive into deeper and deeper layers of your consciousness and come more and more in contact with your radiant, true nature.

Through this practice, all systems of the physical body become strong and healthy. The astral body, made of the energy sheath, the mental sheath and the intellectual sheath, regain balance and harmony. When health, balance and harmony are restored, we come in contact with the causal body, which is made of bliss.

This is how Sampoorna hatha yoga, when properly practiced, can bring so much energy, joy and happiness!
